TRAIL RUNNING EVENTS
WELCOME TO PALMETTO ULTRAS
Welcome to Palmetto Ultras! In 2023 we learned that the race director of Eagle Endurance, Chad Haffa, would be stepping back at the end of the year. This would ultimately mean the end of trail races in the Charleston area. As a runner myself, I couldn't imagine that happening. So, I stepped in, rebranded to Palmetto Ultras and will be taking over some of Eagle Endurance’s most iconic races starting in January 2024
When you run a Palmetto Ultras event I hope that you end up loving the woods as much as I do. Our trails here in the Lowcountry are beautiful. You're not going to find any mountains or waterfalls here but there is something peaceful about being in these woods. Something that makes it feel like you're a kid just playing around.
Don't let our name fool you–we're more than just ultras. I want trail running to be more accessible to more people. You're always going to see crazy long distances at our races but we're also incorporating shorter distances like 5 & 10k's so that you can get your friends to come out, get hooked, and then talk them into running those crazy long distances with you. Whether it's your first time on the trails or if you've been at it for awhile–we have something for everyone.
Our mission is to inspire everyone to embrace the trails, push seasoned runners to new heights, and cultivate lasting bonds in our community
And in case you're curious about the new face behind the wheel of these events–my name is Kayla Fitzgerald and I live in Charleston with my husband, 2 kids, and dog. I LOVE being outdoors and if I'm not working that's where you'll find me. I hated running growing up but as a new mom (11 years ago) I found that it was an amazing way to get outside and spend some time alone doing something that was just for me. My journey is probably a lot like yours. I said I would train for a 5k and be done with running but of course that didn't happen. Things escalated quickly and I found myself running farther and farther. Now–I'm the owner of Palmetto Ultras and run another business called Endurance Nutrition where I use my skills as a Registered Dietitian to help runners learn how to fuel up so they can crush their runs and have the energy to live their lives.
I'm excited to see you out on the trails. If you ever have questions on any of our events don't hesitate to email me
Happy Running!

I met lots of new friends. I don’t think I’ve ever met such an amazing community and group of people. Thank you for bringing us all together and hosting the best event.

Frozen: H3 was awesome. The volunteers were incredible. I’m really thankful you were there to keep me going. The finish never would have happened without you. It’s not if, but when I’ll be back

Newbie trail runner here! Coming from 10+ years of road running, I was a little anxious to try and switch to trail running..
I’m so pumped I did! Sure it was a wet mess but it was FUN! Smiles all around.
